64th Independence Anniversary: Tinubu Renews Hope, Preaches Peace, Resilience
POLITICS DIGEST- President Bola Ahmed has called for unity, resilience and reform amidst the ongoing multidimensional challenges the country is currently grappling with.
The president made the call during his Nigeria’s 64th Independence national broadcast today in Abuja.
He emphasized that resilience, reform, and the importance of national unity should be topmost of Nigerians’ agenda as patriots.
In his speech, Tinubu acknowledged the economic struggles facing many Nigerians, including rising living costs and employment challenges. “Your voices are heard,” he assured citizens, pledging a commitment to sustainable solutions and urging patience as reforms begin to bear fruit.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s journey since independence, the President praised the country’s achievements in democracy and resilience, despite facing numerous crises, including a devastating civil war shortly after gaining independence. “We remain a strong, united, and viable sovereign nation,” he declared.

Tinubu highlighted significant advancements in security, revealing that over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders have been eliminated in recent months. “We are winning the war on terror and banditry,” he proclaimed, promising ongoing efforts to restore peace, particularly in the North.
Addressing the recent natural disasters, he announced the establishment of a Disaster Relief Fund and integrity tests for dams to prevent future catastrophes.
Economic reforms were a central theme of his address, with the President reporting over $30 billion in foreign direct investments within the last year and plans to stimulate job creation through new economic policies.
Tinubu also unveiled plans for a National Youth Conference aimed at empowering Nigeria’s youth, who make up over 60% of the population. This 30-day conference will tackle key issues such as education and employment, ensuring that young voices are integral in shaping future policies.
The speech concluded with a message of hope, encouraging Nigerians to believe in their potential and the promise of a brighter future. “Together, we will cultivate a Nigeria that reflects the aspirations of all its citizens,” he said, urging collaboration in the journey toward national progress.
