Indian PM Arrives Nigeria for Economic Partnership Talks

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Nigeria for economic partnership talks, marking the first time an Indian Prime Minister has visited the country since 2007.
Modi was received late Saturday night at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja by the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, amid heightened anticipation for the landmark event.

Earlier, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had expressed excitement about the visit, emphasizing its significance in strengthening bilateral ties. In a statement, President Tinubu described the visit as an opportunity to deepen cooperation between the two nations.
“I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his first visit to Nigeria, which is also the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to our dear country since 2007,” the statement read. “Our bilateral discussions will seek to expand the strategic partnership between both countries and enhance cooperation in critical sectors. Welcome to Nigeria, PM Modi.”
The visit is expected to foster closer collaboration between Nigeria and India in areas such as trade, technology, energy, and healthcare, underscoring the growing ties between the two countries.
