POLITICS DIGEST – Following closed-door meeting with the stakeholders, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Duoye Diri as Governor-elect of Bayelsa state.
INEC top executives arrived at the conclusion after their meeting.
The Supreme Court sacked Chief David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress(APC) because his running mate presented a forged certificate to INEC.
Diri will be presented with the Certificate-of-Return and sworn in immediately.

Diri who arrived INEC office about 11.15 am was earlier stopped at the gate by stern looking security operatives when the commission’s stakeholders were meeting.

Meanwhile, the governor-elect of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has said that God has healed the state with the judgment of the Supreme Court that disqualified the election of APC’s David Lyon and returned him as the winner of the election.
Diri spoke while being presented with Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja.
According to him, “I will never forget the judiciary, it is the last hope of the common man. With what happened, God has healed our State Bayelsa. Within this time, God has taken us through a journey of reconciliation and forgiveness”.
Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjiakpo were presented with their Certificates of Return in a solemn ceremony at INEC conference room by May Agbamu-Uche Mbu, INEC Commissioner in charge of Legal.
