Insecurity: District Head Lauds INGO’s Intervention for Katsina Communities
The Kanwan Katsina District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankaraz has commended the intervention of Mersy Corp, an International Non-Governmental Organization, in the areas ravaged by insecurity in Katsina State.
Alh. Bello Kankara was speaking during a one-day stakeholders engagement organized by Mersy Corp, in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration, IOM, and Center for Democracy and Development, CDD, on conflict mitigation and community reconciliation in the State.
Mersy Corp is an International Non Governmental Organization under the European Union that works in over forty countries, helping to build more secure, productive and just communities.
It recently launched an eighteen months comprehensive pilot program to reduce community violence in Batsari, Dan Musa, Jibia and Kankara Local Government Areas of Katsina State.

The mornach noted that such interventions will help cushion the effect of the menace and provide some development in the affected areas.
The Kanwan Katsina thanked the INGO for selecting Kankara Local Government in the pilot program and assured that the office of the District Head of Ketare will always be ready to cooperate with any NGO that will bring development to the communities of the district who are in dear need of this assistance.
Earlier, the facilitator of the program, Mr Godwin Okoko, explained that the program seeks to intervene in the areas of construction of Earth Dam, Hospitals, Veterinary Clinics, boreholes, and other social amenities to enhance security and stability in the banditry ravaged areas.
He said that the project seeks to strengthen peace building process, to support the implementation of political and community response to violence and strengthen the government system to promote social cohesion and address the needs and grievances of communities.
