2023: Irabor Hosts Police IG, Assures Hitch-Free Polls

The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Lucky Irabor said that the Nigerian military has put necessary mechanisms in place to ensure a peaceful presidential election, come February 25th.
He gave the assurance shortly after a meeting with the Inspector General of Police, Usman-Alkali Baba, and representatives of other critical security agencies at the Defence Headquarters on Monday evening, in Abuja.

Irabor said that the military is ready to give maximum support to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Police to have hitch-free elections.
“We have had the representatives of INEC as well as the Police and they have said that they are ready for the elections. Hence, we support protecting the territorial integrity of the country against any attack that may affect the election process.
“The police is the lead agency for the security of election and the IG has briefed us on the efforts they have put in place for the election.”
The CDS has also called on criminal elements operating in some parts of the country to rescind their intention of obstructing the election or face the wrath of the military, adding that Nigerians will exercise franchise without facing any problems.
