Fox News reported that the IDF had in a statement earlier said it was “checking the possibility that one of the Hamas leaders killed after its strikes in Gaza on Thursday was Yahya Sinwar.”
According to IDF, the soldiers had spotted suspected terrorists in Gaza and opened fire before the individuals fled into a building.
However, later in a post on its official X handle, IDF confirmed Sinwar’s death, saying he had been eliminated.
Sinwar, 61, was widely seen as being behind the October 7 massacre of Israeli civilians carried out by Hamas militants.
