I didn’t Join APC in Search of Immunity – Fani-Kayode
By Kabir Akintayo
Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has debunked the story circulating in the media that he was arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The former minister in a post on his Facebook page said he was not above the law or immune from arrest, adding that joining APC does not give him immunity.
He said “I pity those that said I was arrested. They are filled with hate and live on fake news.

“Since when did an invitation and a friendly chat become an arrest? And even if I had been arrested, SO WHAT? I am not above the law and neither does joining APC give me immunity.”
Fani-Kayode had earlier written that it he honored an invitation from the EFCC which he arrived in their office at 2.00pm and left at 8.30pm.
He wrote: “Just arrived at the George Hotel for dinner. I was never arrested by the EFCC. I was invited and I flew down to Lagos to see them. I arrived in their office at 2.00pm and left at 8.30pm. I was granted bail on self recognition. They were very polite and professional. Thanks be to God.”
Reports have it that the EFCC is investigating Fani-Kayode, on a fresh case bordering on forgery before a Federal High Court, Lagos State.
He was expected to answer questions on alleged forgery of hospital documents to hoodwink the court handling the case against him on money-laundering allegations with a view to stalling the hearing.
