JUST IN: After 45 Days in Office, UK PM, Liz Truss, Resigns
POLITICS DIGEST- After 45 tumultuous days in office, U.K. Prime Minister, Liz Truss, has resigned following a failed tax-cutting budget that rocked financial markets and caused a revolt within her own Conservative Party.
Her resignation makes her the shortest-serving PM in British history.
Truss said in a statement outside Downing Street on Thursday afternoon:

“We set out a vision for a low-tax, high-growth economy that would take advantage of Brexit.”
“I recognise though, given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party. I have therefore spoken to His Majesty the King to announce that I am resigning as leader of the Conservative Party.”
Liz Truss will still remain in office though until her successor is elected.
She had sacrificed her Chancellor of Exchequer, Kwesi Kwarteng, last week as a way of saving her administration but criticisms over wrong economic choices did not stop.
