JUST IN: Nassarawa LG Chairman suspended over gross misconduct
The chairman of Nassarawa local government in Kano Auwalu Lawan Shaaibu has been suspended indefinitely.
Shaaibu was suspended over allegations of gross misconduct and violation of office as Chairman of Nassarawa LG by members of the legislative Council.
Out of the eleven councillors of Nassarawa local government, eight signed the suspension letter with three loyal to Mr. Shaaibu.
Abdulrazaq Yau, the Councillor of Tudun Wada Ward, told Politics Digest that Shaaibu, apart from violation of office and gross misconduct is not loyal to the All Progressives Congress, a party on which platform he was elected.

“He has given properties belonging to the local government on lease to his friends and cronies without approval from the legislative council.
The Chairman is entitled to approve the sum of 250,000 naira solely, any sum above that must have the approval of the legislative council, but the Chairman has violated this provision of the law.
We have given him approval for the purchase of a new brand car, but he has not bought the car and used it for official purposes to this moment.
The Chairman is a violator of the law. We have called his attention countless times, but he refused to even give us attention as elected representatives of our people.
We are elected officials like him. We are not his appointees. ” said Abdulrazaq.
The council has directed the Vice Chairman Muazu Abubakar Adamu to take over pending the outcome of the investigation.
