JUST IN: Obi Detained me in Anambra, now he will Come to Kaduna to Campaign – El Rufai
POLITICS DIGEST- The governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai, has berated the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, for abusing his powers and detaining him in Anambra state in 2013 over party differences.
El-Rufai had in 2013 been locked up in his hotel room in Anambra State where he went to monitor the gubernatorial election on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Obi who was governor of the state at that time and was seeking a second term in office on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) had allegedly ordered that El-Rufai be kept in house arrest on the suspicion that he travelled to Anambra to influence or disrupt the election on behalf of the APC.

Speaking during the Arewa Joint Committee Interactive Session with the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday, El-Rufai mocked Obi, saying the table has now turned and Obi will now have to come to Kaduna to campaign with him as governor.
“In 2013, I went to Anambra state to monitor election for my party, the APC, Peter Obi who was the governor then put me under house arrest for 48 hours in my hotel.
“Today, I am the Governor of Kaduna state and he is coming to Kaduna to campaign and apart from other security agencies, I have the 1 Mechanised Division of the Army in Kaduna.
But I will not arrest or molest him or pay him back in his own coin because this is the North and we northerners are civilised people,” the Kaduna governor said amidst loud cheers from the crowd.
