JUST IN: Osinbajo Meets APC Governors, Sets to Declare Interest in Presidential Race

Barring any last-minute changes, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will in a matter of hours officially announce to Nigerians his ambition to succeed his boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, in 2023.
According to the Vice President’s declaration plan made available to POLITICS DIGEST by sources close to his campaign, Osinbajo would host governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to Iftar Dinner on Sunday night.

At the time of filing this story, some of the governors had already converged on the Akinola Aguda House, where the Vice President resides inside the State House, Abuja, for the meeting.
He is expected to first inform the governors of his intention to run for President before announcing to Nigerians on Monday morning.
According to sources close to Osinbajo, a 10-minute video would be released on Monday morning showing the Vice President soliciting the support of party members and Nigerians in his bid
to serve as President.
Osinbajo will battle his former principal, Bola Tinubu; Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, and other bigwigs for the APC ticket.
