JUST IN: Suspected IPOB Militants Bomb Imo INEC Headquarters
POLITICS DIGEST- The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters along Owerri-Port Harcourt road in Imo State has been bombed by unknown assailants.
POLITICS DIGEST gathered from eye witnesses that the gunmen threw grenades through the commission’s fence in the early hours of Monday.
The explosives destroyed several offices and vehicles parked in the premises.

However, the police stationed at the INEC office engaged the gunmen in a heavy shootout , leaving three of the gunmen who wore charms and Biafra camouflages dead.
INEC spokesman, Dr. Chinenye Chijioke-Osuji, confirmed the attack to reporters.
POLITICS DIGEST reports that less than 80 days to the commencement of voting in the 2023 general elections, gunmen have recently turned the screw on the southeast, killing northerners and southerners alike and destroying INEC facilities in a suspected bid to frustrate the elections.
