JUST IN: Tinubu Remains my Preferred Successor – Buhari
POLITICS DIGEST- President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that he is fully behind the choice of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This is contained in the President’s written responses to questions sent to him by Bloomberg News.
Asked if he plans to endorse a candidate for president and if so, who? Buhari said “Yes. I will endorse the APC candidate for President.”

The former Lagos state governor had a turbulent time fighting for the ticket of the party in the midst of speculations that the Villa was planning to stop him.
Few days to the primary election which he eventually won convincingly, Tinubu had in famous rant in Abeokuta, Ogun state, reminded the President how he helped to make him and his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo, succeed in 2015.
After winning the primary held at the Eagle Square in Abuja, Tinubu also jocularly told the President that he kept him waiting for too long, in apparent reference to the fact that he was not supposed to labour for the ticket before clinching it.
The two men have since exchanged letters of congratulation on the successful conduct of the party’s convention.
