By Nafisat Bello
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has shifted its planned National Caucus, Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings earlier scheduled to hold today between 10am and 2:00pm.
Prominent caucus members of the party including former Senate Presidents, David Mark, and Bukola Saraki, the Chairman of the BoT, Sen. Walid Jibrin, and the governors of Edo, Enugu, Adamawa, and Taraba as well as host Governor, Samuel Ortom, met behind closed-doors for about two hours before coming out at about 12:00pm.

It was gathered that the postponement which will last for a few hours is to allow for more consultations on thorny issues.
Among the thorny issues meant for discussion is the issue of zoning. A committee chaired by Governor Ortom had recommended that the presidential ticket should be left open for everyone to aspire so that the party will put it’s best material forward.
This recommendation has however been rejected by certain interest groups within and outside the party who are clamouring for power shift to the southeast.
NEC is set to take a final decision on the issue today.
Under the new arrangement, the caucus meeting will now begin at 4:pm today, BoT is scheduled to hold at 7pm while the NEC meeting is being planned for 8:00pm.
