2020 Budget: Kaduna Presents N257bn Proposal, Declares Free Education
POLITICS DIGEST – Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has declared free education from Primary up to Secondary level in Kaduna State.
El-Rufa’i made this known on Monday while presenting the budget estimate of N257 billion before Kaduna State House of Assembly for the 2020 fiscal year.
Represented by his Deputy Dr Hadiza Balarabe, Governor El-Rufai said the administration was planning to spend N107.9 billion on works and education in the state.

He said, under the 2020 budget, 12 years of free primary and secondary education has become compulsory for all children in Kaduna State.
He said the government would enforce the policy by using a security outfit to ensure all children of school age were in school during school hours.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Aminu Abdullahi Shagali, commended the executive for being the first state to implement the National Minimum Wage. Shagali gave an assurance that the lawmakers would do justice to the budget and pass it into law in record time.
