Kano APC: Congress ends in chaos as party members attacked committee
POLITICS DIGEST– The seven man congress committee of All Progressives Congress has been attacked by some aggrieved members of the party in Kano.
The incident took place today at around 5pm at State Road close to Kano Government House where some members of the party stopped the commitee’s bus to submit the result of the congress across the 44 local government of the state.
Sharada, Jobe and their supporters were at the state secretariat of the party to submit the list of elected executives of 484 wards after the conduct of Saturday’s congress in the state.
The committee members were not at the secretariat but at the personal office of the state chairman of APC Abdullahi Abbas.
Their absence at the state secretariat provoked the aggrieved members to move to the personal office of the state Chairman which they coincidentally met the members of the committee on their way out to Government House.
The aggrieved members of the party were heard chanting “The party is not owned by the governor, it is for all of us, we don’t need consensus, this is the genuine result of the congress, you must collect this result of our elected executives”.
The seven man committee led by Dr Tony Macfoye and his Secretary Barr. Auwalu Abdullahi were saved following the intervention of Honorable Shaaban Ibrahim Sharada when their car was about to be burnt by the aggrieved members that were chanting “A kona motar” meaning “burn the car”.
It was Sharada that convinced the aggrieved members to let them go.
POLITICS DIGEST reliably gathered that the aggrieved members are supporters of APC Buhari Support Group, Shaaban Sharada and Hon. Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe a member of the House of Representatives representing the constituency of governor Ganduje.
It would be recalled that a faction of All Progressives Congress in Kano loyal to President Muhammadu Buhari has kicked against the concensus executives by some stakeholders of the party loyal to governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
A consensus executives was agreed to be adopted in a party stakeholders meeting at Kano Government House.
The governor made the announcement in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary Abba Anwar that ward, local and state congresses will take place through consensus.
But in a swift reaction, some party members loyal to APC Buhari Support Group led by Alhaji Shehu Dalhatu, a pioneer coordinator of The Buhari Organization in Kano has rejected consensus insisting that party congresses must hold in the state, they alleged that “Its a party affair, the statement should have come out from the Secretary of the party not the governor’s spokesman” said a chieftain of the party.
POLITICS DIGEST learnt that some aggrieved stakeholders of the party were neither consulted nor agreed to consensus.
Credible sources told this paper that Governor Ganduje has lodged the three Man committee sent from party headquarters to sell the congress forms for contestants in a hotel in kano instead of allowing them to sell the forms at the state headquaters of APC in the state.
It was also learnt that the Governor has purchased more than 13,000 nomination forms in a move to block APC aggrieved members from getting access to it.
Unknown to the governor, the APC Buhari support group and Hon. Shaaban Sharada has already purchased the remaining forms and distributed it to their loyalists at 484 wards in kano across the 44 local government.
This development has generated controversies between close associate of the governor and the three man committee sent from Abuja, threatening them not to sell the form to any member of the party apart from the governor.
When contacted, the Chairman of the Committee sent from the party’s headquarters in Abuja didn’t answer the call of our reporter nor respond to the text message sent to him.
