Kano, Bauchi Begin Payment of 30,000 Minimum Wage
POLITICS DIGEST – Kano State government has disclosed that it has commenced the payment of new salary package of N30,000 in the state.
A statement signed by Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba on Wednesday noted that workers in the state have started receiving the consolidated wages from December 2019 salary.
Malam Garba gave government assurance to settle arrears of April November 2019 on instalments bases. An agreement, he said, had already reached between the state government and the Joint Public Service Negotiation Council (JNC).
The commissioner, therefore, appealed to civil servants to reciprocate the gesture by dedicating themselves to their duties so as to improve service delivery.
He also called on workers, particularly those in the revenue-generating entities to make an extra effort by ensuring that taxable individuals and corporate entities always pay their dues so that government continue its laudable development programmes for the teeming populace.
With over 180,000 population of public servants in Kano, the state government will commit over N10 billion monthly to service the new wage bill, The Guardian learnt.

Meanwhile, the Bauchi State Government has approved the payment of N30,000 new minimum wage for employees in the state.\
This is contained in a statement issued by Alhaji Mohammed Baba, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to newsmen in on Wednesday in Bauchi.
According to the statement, the approval is with ‘immediate effect’ (commencing from January 1, 2020).
“The Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Sen. Bala Mohammad, has received the report of the committee of the state Joint Public Service Council on the implementation of the National Minimum Wage of thirty thousand naira (N30,000) as set by the Federal Government.
“Government has accordingly approved the payment of the thirty thousand naira as minimum wage for employees in the state with effect from 1st January 2020,” said the SSG.
