Kano A’Court Verdict: APC, NNPP Trade Words Over Protest
By Ozumi Abdul
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have continued to engage in war of words over the protest that rocked Kano state on Wednesday.
The war of words was again ignited on Thursday when Kano state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Dederi, and the APC legal adviser in Kano, Barrister Abdul Fagge, appeared on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily.
Fagge who pointed fingers at the NNPP for Wednesday’s massive protest in the state said that there are processes of expressing grievances without resorting to violence.
He said he had evidence that NNPP mobilised people across various social media platforms to engage in violent protest against the Appeal Court verdict that was not in its favour.

He added that even though there is right to protest, it should be done in a peaceful way that would not jeopardise the peace of the state
Reacting, Mr Dederi argued that there is bound to be a breakdown of peace in any society where impunity and obvious injustice reign supreme.
He said the situation in Kano became tense because the judgement delivered last Friday by the appellate court was totally short of the people’s expectations.
Dederi alleged that the reliable information at his disposal has it that the kind of judgement handed down on Friday was not the judgement the judge originally intended to deliver, hence the alleged typographical errors and inconsistencies in the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the ruling.
He accused some ‘powers that be’ of interfering with the ruling and causing chaos in the state.
POLITICS DIGEST reports that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has vowed to challenge the Appeal Court ruling at the Supreme Court.
