Despite losing in a primary election under questionable circumstances, Kawu Sumaila has remained committed to the people of Kano South. He continues to voice his concerns and criticize the poor representation provided by the current serving senator. This has given him a significant opportunity to highlight his plans and vision if elected. In 2022, he joined the National Nigerian People Party and secured the senatorial ticket, paving the way for his victory as the senator-elect who will begin representing the good people of Kano South from June 13th, 2023.
During a recent radio interview, I had the opportunity to hear Senator Kawu Sumaila express his plans to establish the Kano South Council forum. This forum will serve as a platform for regional leaders, including local government chairmen, federal and state lawmakers from Kano South, to discuss and find solutions to regional issues. Senator Kawu will chair the forum and has reassured the public that the council will work hand-in-hand with the state government to reopen schools that have been closed for an extended period. This is undoubtedly great news for the people of Kano South.
The constituents of the senatorial district have high expectations of Senator Kawu Sumaila, anticipating effective representation. As a concerned citizen and esteemed educationist and university founder, he will play a vital role in reforming the education and teaching systems by presenting bills in the National Assembly.
