KEDCO Begins Feeder Realignment to Boost Supply
POLITICS DIGEST – As part of its efforts to ensure efficiency in power distribution, the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has commenced feeder realignment in its franchise areas.
The company said the exercise which commenced Wednesday today continue until other feeders across Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states are completed.
KEDCO in a statement by its head of Corporate Communication, Ibrahim Sani Shawai said the initiative is part of the company’s reforms to give maximum satisfaction to all classes of its customers.
The commissioning of feeder realignment held at Gongoni injection substation as well as the PRP injection substation along Airport road in Kano by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna.
Represented by the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Dr VijayKumar Senewane, Gwamna said the project is the first phase of the entire exercise.

“The essence of this exercise is to separate the industrial customers from the residential customers and the rationale behind the project is to enhance safety of staff and other stakeholders while carrying out their duties as well as to help boost revenue collection.
“Also other feeder realignment are ongoing and we will also update everyone in that regard as soon as the modalities are complete for commissioning”, the MD added.
The MD said it was imperative to continue to improve on existing reforms, adding that, “We are doing all these to ensure that we are able to protect our staff while also satisfying customers.
“This is one of the reforms that have been lined up and we will see more improvements in revenue collection and capacities to ensure the safety of everyone as well as serve our customers in as effectively a manner as possible.
“This will give us an opportunity to ensure effective power distribution to our customers, while minimizing any risk associated with staff on duty or other stakeholders in one way or the other”, Gwamna concluded.
The Kano DisCo boss then urged all his staff to continue being innovative in their respective duties to ensure improvement in 2020.
He also called on customers to continue to support the company by protecting its installation as well as ensuring prompt payment of bills.
