KEDCO Adopts Community-Based Approach to Enhance Bills Collection
POLITICS DIGEST – The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) says it has adopted a community-based engagement approach in order to enhance bills distribution and cash collection per transformer in all states across its franchise areas.
According to the company, the initiative will create a platform where community through their transformer committees can help guide its staff in the distribution of bills and ensuring payment to boost collection for the company.
KEDCO stated this on Friday in a statement by its head of Corporate Communications, Ibrahim Sani Shawai and made available to newsmen.

The DisCo added, “We are adopting this measure as a means to ensure that we boost collection so as to be able to meet our financial obligation to our partners in the power chain.
“Since the bills distribution and cash collections is by transformer, every customer using such transformer would now be expected to pay 100 per cent of their current charges and 20 per cent of outstanding on every transformer.’’
“The Management maintained that this approach would ensure more ownership as well as widening the participation of more stakeholders in the interest of the power sector development”, the statement added.
KEDCO then appealed to customers in its franchise areas of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states to assist in paying their bills on time, adding that such will motivate it to serve them better.
