By Ozumi Abdul
As the gale of defection continues to hit opposition parties in Kogi state ahead of its November 11 governorship election, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Director of Media, Hon. Dayo Onibiyo, from Yagba East, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP chieftain defected alongside Hon. Folunsho Mamood, Hon. Stephen Bankole and other party members on Friday.
While receiving the defectors in his Luggard House office Lokoja, Governor Yahaya Bello expressed delight that members of other parties are now attesting to his administration’s New Direction mantra, and as such want to join the moving train.
The governor also added that he is not surprised about the defectors’ decision to leave the PDP, while also promising that they will be duly accommodated into the progressive movement of the APC.
He exuded the confidence that the APC in the state would continue to wax stronger, as he highlighted the achievements of his administration and its commitment to providing good governance for the people of Kogi State.
He also extended olive branch to other PDP members who want to join the party, promising that the door is open for them to come in.
Earlier, Hon. Onibiyo praised the governor for his remarkable achievements across the state, particularly in areas of security and infrastructure.
He expressed his personal admiration for Governor Bello’s unwavering dedication, patriotism, and selflessness in defending the state’s interest at all times.
The group also commended the governor for his foresight in approving the establishment of a university in Okunland.
