Kwankwaso Ignorant of Judicial Procedure, Says Ganduje’s Commissioner
POLITICS DIGEST – Kano State government has berated calls by former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso for a review of the Supreme Court’s verdict on the governorship election in the state, describing him as ‘ignorant of the judicial procedure’.
Kwankwaso last week led the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Kano to the party’s secretariat in Abuja, where he urged the National Chairman, Uche Secondus, to call for a review of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the state’s election.
Commissioner for Information Muhammad Garba said: “Kwankwaso’s call is a clear testimony of his total obliviousness on the jurisdictional procedures that affirmed Abdullahi Ganduje as governor. It is surprising that Kwankwaso is calling for such review on no grounds, considering their glaring defeat and acceptance of the same.

“The senator, who is quoted to have claimed ‘voter disenfranchisement and manipulation of judicial processes’, is just being driven by his mawkishness and recent developments in Imo and Bayelsa States, which scenarios are in no way comparable.”
Garba said while some legal practitioners are looking at technical issues in the Imo and Bayelsa cases, Kano’s situation is an entirely different game.
According to him, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano failed to either substantively provide evidence that there were irregularities in the March 9 election, or produce direct evidence to prove to the courts that they were not defeated in the March 23 supplementary election.
He added: “What the Supreme Court ruled was the affirmation of the judgment of the tribunal and Court of Appeal. That is to say the PDP failed to prove its case, and that is the substance of the case. Therefore, there is no basis whatsoever for a review of the Kano case.”
