2023: Kwankwaso Wants Power in Kano for Vengeance, Says PDP Candidate

POLITICS DIGEST- The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano state, Mallam Muhammad Sadiq-Wali, has said vendetta is the reason former governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso is seeking power with the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).
He made this disclosure on Sunday in his Bompai home during an exclusive interview with POLITICS DIGEST crew.
Wali noted that the NNPP is out to get back at those who hurt them in the past especially the traditional institution.
He however cautioned that such motives portend great danger for the peaceful atmosphere in the state, questioning how would a particular government want to reverse decisions that are beneficial to the people.
“The NNPP is not trying to come to power for the purpose of progress or development. It is about getting at those who had wronged them. It is not about moving the state forward.
“They are targeting the traditional institutions, trying to abolish what was done. Whether it is done wrongly or rightly, the people have already accepted that and moved forward, how do you come now to reverse that? We are going to do this, we are going to do that, we going to jail that, that is not progress, that will not take us anywhere.
“It is not about jailing or blaming people, but how do we move forward? Wasting so much energy and resources witch-hunting people will never take us forward,” he said.

When asked to assess the chances of the success of his party and candidature against the ruling APC in the state who will be fielding the incumbent deputy governor Nasiru Gawuna in next year’s gubernatorial election, Wali laughed off what he described as the ‘needless ado’ about incumbency, boasting that the challenges of bad economy during the current APC government at the centre has already boosted the chances of his candidature and party.
He asked rhetorically if there would be any Nigerian who would not want the country to wind back the hands of clock to 2014 when the PDP was in power.
“The bad economy has already given us an edge and platform. Is there anybody that won’t want to jump on the bus to be taken back to 2014 in Nigeria or Kano state now when the PDP was in government? Everything is so hard now, so it is imperative for the people of Kano state to vote out the current government which has made life more difficult for the citizens, with infrastructural decay, lack of clear path for redemption.
“So by voting in another set to continue as they claim, they will continue from where this one stops or stopped, they will all be the same and I don’t think the people of Kano would want that,” he said.
Wali declared that his target is to take the state back to it’s glory days.
He added that an average Kanawa can reel out the major problems confronting the state, ranging from under-qualified teachers, health issues, lack of potable water, bad roads and lack of provisions for agricultural inputs.
He however exuded the confidence that he will assemble a team that is capable of confronting these numerous challenges head-long with the right short, midterm and long-term plans and projections if elected in 2023.
“We need to expand and build infrastructure in local areas where you have competitive opportunities.
“My team agenda also includes Social Service Reforms, Civil Service Reforms and Education,” he added.
