Lateef Fagbemi: Nigeria’s Potential Attorney General

After keeping both the politicians and the Nigerian masses in suspense for nearly two months after his inauguration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday sent his ministerial list to the National Assembly, NASS.
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio read out the ministerial list to the Senators and the general public. One of Nigeria’s prominent lawyers, Mr. Lateef Fagbemi, was among the seasoned technocrats President Tinubu settled for, and included in the list forward to Senators, by Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff, CoS, to Mr. President.
Fagbemi is jurist and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who has made significant contributions to the development of law and justice in the country. He has been involved in various landmark cases, which earned him the respect for his expertise and professionalism in the legal profession.

Born on June 22, 1959 in Kwara State, Nigeria, the renowned legal luminary attended University of Lagos, where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in 1981. He later obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from the same institution in 1984.
After completing his education, Fagbemi began his legal career as a counsel in the law firm of Gani Fawehinmi & Co. He soon established his own law firm, Lateef Fagbemi & Co., and became a prominent figure in the Nigerian legal profession.
Mr. Fagbemi has been involved in various high-profile cases, including election petitions and other constitutional matters. He has also served as a judge in various Nigerian courts, including the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal.
Also, his contributions to legal scholarship in Nigeria are noteworthy, and he is widely respected as an expert in Nigerian law.
Giving his vast knowledge as a legal guru and revered jurist, the coast is very much clear for Fagbemi to automatically land the post of the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, in Tinubu’s incoming cabinet.
