Looking at politics as a career or community service
By Adnan Mukhtar,
POLITICS DIGEST- I have chosen to be writing and reporting about political happenings since the beginning of my career as a reporter and journalist not because of I read political science or History but because of my strong passion for politics which I emulated from my later Father Mukhtari Adamu, a fine lawyer and writer in the 80’s and 90’s.
It’s believed that politics is a community service everywhere in the world, people participate in politics to quest for power and leadership is all about burden and responsibility. Serving your people diligently is community service.
In Nigeria today, people have ventured into politics to sustain themselves. Someone will be telling you that he’s in politics for the past 40 years, when you ask him about his career or profession; he will be going somewhere. These set of people are the reason we are in abject poverty, failure of leadership through the election of irresponsible personalities to fly the ticket of various political parties in election.
They are the enemies of our people and a developed society. Not only they are reaping the bad thing they sow, they are also victims of leadership failure.
The rotten educational, health and security sector affects them the most than people whom have built a career.

Sometimes, the people that work hard for a particular candidate in election ended up parting ways when he becomes victorious. When you have a career; you will just move on and forget the past.
Young people are on social media fighting over political differences, becoming toxic of something they are not sure of benefitting is emphatic and irresponsibility of the highest order.
You’ve to choose between building a career and community service. You can choose the duo in a manner that will benefit you.
My dear brother, your personal development is your top utmost priority in this life as a Nigerian.
