LP Crisis: Obi and OBIdients Need to be Checked – Lamidi Apapa

There appears to be no end in sight to the crisis rocking the Labour Party (LP), as its embattled fractional national chairman, Lamidi Apapa, has challenged the party’s presidential candidate in the February 25 election, Mr Peter Obi, and his supporters to bring forth any evidence they have against him that he is trying to sabotage the party’s case at the tribunal.
Apapa made the challenge during his appearance on the Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily monitored by Politics Digest on Thursday.
He debunked the allegations of trust deficit targeted at him, adding that he campaigned for Peter Obi wholeheartedly before the elections, and wants nothing but his victory either at the poll or at the tribunal.
“Let me tell you, there is nothing like distrust, there is nothing like distrust, it’s about project, it’s Labour Party project, Obi is our project, and nobody should deviate from that project.

“This has been the reason why I campaigned for him with my full heart during the campaign, because all I want is nothing but his victory, either at the poll or tribunal, and it’s God that will reward me for that.
“I want Obi to say to the while world why he is behaving in such manner to me, because I have been telling them that if you said you have the evidence that I have done this, I have done that bring it to the whole world to see and they have nothing to show,” he said.
Asked if he knows that Obi doesn’t recognise him as a key member of the party, Apapa said that the former Anambra state governor is bound not to recognise him, adding that he (Obi) is not the owner of the party.
He revealed that he has been in the party for the past 21 years, while Obi is less than a year in the party, and that as such he is not going to beg him to recognise him.
On whether he will step aside as the party’s acting chairman in the overall interest of the party, Apapa queried why he will step aside since he is not found wanting and has never been found wanting since his 21 years as a member of the party.
“Obi is the person to be checked. If you are in a party less than a year and you are disturbing someone who has been there for the past 21 years, then who deserved to be checked, who is deceiving who?” he added.
