MAAUN names Centre for Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics after Prof. Shehu Alhaji Musa
POLITICS DIGEST- Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has named its newly established Centre for Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics after the outgoing Vice Chancellor of Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil, Prof. Shehu Alhaji Musa.
The Founder and Chairman Governing Council of MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, made the disclosure on Thursday, 5th January, 2023 when some Management staff of KUST led by its Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Aminu Umar Fagge presented some text books to MAAUN, Kano as a donation.
He said the decision to name the Centre after Prof. Alhaji was in recognition of his selfless service and enormous contribution to the education sector.
Prof. Gwarzo who is also the President Association of African Private Universities, said Prof. Alhaji deserves the honor from MAAUN in view of his commitment to the development of education not only in Kano State but the country at large.
According to him, Prof. Alhaji deserves to be encouraged even after his tenure to enable him continue the good works he has been doing to the education sector.

While wishing him well in all his future undertakings, Prof. Gwarzo said the outgoing VC would continue to be remembered for his good works especially for promoting youth intellectuals adding that without the assistance of Prof. Alhaji, the University would not have produced the books.
Prof. Gwarzo thanked the outgoing VC for the donation and assured the management of KUST of his readiness to use his international networks of universities to promote the books.
He also assured that the books would be uploaded on the website of the Association of Africa Private Universities (AAPU) so that any university interested in the books could be linked with the publishers.
Earlier in his remarks after the presentation of the books, the DVC Academics, Prof. Aminu Umar Fagge said the books are indigenous publication of the University.
He said KUST would collaborate with MAAUN with a view to promoting research and development for academic excellence.
Among the management staff of MAAUN present at the occasion include Vice President Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar and Director Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Nura A. Yaro among others.
The books donated include 100 copies of Basic Biochemistry, 100 copies of Biochemical Roles and Prospects, 100 copies of Basic Biochemical and Research Methods, 100 copies of Physics for 1st Year Students and 100 of Bambaranut– a crop of nutritional importance.
