I Made Ododo Win Despite your Betrayal – Bello Attacks Kogi APC Chieftains
By Ozumi Abdul
Exactly a week after the Kogi state governorship election, Governor Yahaya Bello has berated his political appointees, aides and politicians who he assisted in the past but who allegedly stabbed him in the back before and during the poll.
The governor said this in Lokoja, the state capital on Saturday during a stakeholders’ meeting.
The visibly angry governor singled out some of his appointees, who he said he brought from the ‘scratch’, but who paid him back with betrayal.
He noted that he was left with the uphill task of fighting enemies from two fronts, internally and externally, especially when the governor-elect, Usman Ahmed Ododo, emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer.
“I took them from scratch, raised them and fought for them but in return, they betrayed me.
“I warned all of them, but those disgruntled elements went contrary to our ideals after everything I did for them.
“I was fighting known enemies while enemies within were pulling me down.
God punish you all.
“They said; if it can’t be me, then it can’t be Ododo. They were busy conniving and conspiring with the opposition.
“They are busy collecting small small charms and peddling lies. Shame on you all,” he said.
He alleged that some of them worked behind the scene against the victory of the party during the election by texting the opponents, warning them that the party shouldn’t be allowed to get the required 25% in some local government areas.
The governor also recalled how he warned his deputy, Edward Onoja.

“Edward, I warned you, I cautioned you,” he said.
The senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Jibrin Isa Echocho, was not also spared in the governor’s outburst.
This is as he reminded the senator how he was wrecked, thrown into political oblivion by his own Igala people before he revived him financially and politically only for him to betray the party in last week’s election.
“Sen. Echocho, you were wrecked by your brothers and I revived you from financial bankruptcy. Today, you are a second term serving Senator,” he said.
Governor Bello boasted how he outsmarted them despite their heinous plot for the downfall of his candidate.
“They call themselves leaders but misleading the people. You all are the idiots because I’m smarter than all of you.
“As the Excecutive Governor of Kogi State, if I’m not well informed, I’m a failure. I have proved to you all that I outsmarted all of you.
“If any of my fingers stand my way not to go far, I will cut it off. To hell with anyone in my cabinet that said I disappointed him.
“You all combined are not up to 10 percent of what I am made up off. Shame on you all,” he said.
He then singled out the people of Kogi West for their support, vowing that he will repay them for the electoral solidarity at the appropriate time.
The governor also said that the Igala people of Kogi East are not selfish ingrates but were only mis-led by mischievous leaders.
“To the Okun people who stood behind the Kogi Agenda, ignoring their brothers with fruitless mission, we shall pay back.
“The genuine Igala that I know are not ingrates. Selfish leaders mis-led the people. New leaders shall emerge from the East,” he added.
