Maida, A Thoroughbred Media Entrepreneur – Ex-Acting NAN MD
POLITICS DIGEST– Chief Jide Adebayo, a former Acting Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), has described late Malam Wada Maida, a former Chairman of the Board of NAN, as a thoroughbred media entrepreneur.
Adebayo, who made the assertion in his reaction to the death of Maida in a telephone interview, said the deceased was instrumental to the setting up of some outstanding media outfits in the country.
He expressed shock at the demise of the deceased, adding that his tenure as NAN boss was laced with records of achievements which gave the agency the desired solid foundation.
“Malam Maida’s contribution to the growth of journalism in Nigeria will remain indelible and he will surely be missed for his doggedness, sincerity, honesty and integrity.

“He was a kindhearted gentleman whose immense love for the media industry cannot be quantified.
” This, he so much demonstrated with all sincerity as head of affairs at NAN.
” He was a co-founder of the Daily Trust among many of his achievements toward projecting the desired positive media image and entrepreneurship across all spheres.
“I pray for the repose of his soul and the family the fortitude to bear the loss,” Adebayo said.
Similarly, Alhaji Abdulraheem Adisa, a close associate of the late Maida, described the deceased as a detribalised Nigerian whose belief in the Nigeria project remained untainted.
“He was a true Nigerian to the core and lived his life to promote togetherness and equal opportunity for every citizen irrespective of religion, tribe, culture or geographical background.
“A thoroughbred administrator, technocrat and statesman, he was simply a perfect example of a God-fearing and kindhearted gentleman.
“I pray for the forgiveness of his shortcomings and his family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” Adisa, a retired Editor in the agency, said. (NAN)
