Man-management and Welfarism: How Yahaya Bello Gets the Security Job Done
By Hafsat Ibrahim
Kindness is a language which the blind can see and the deaf can hear, the willingness to give or share is an act of munificence and only exceptional personalities are engaged in such.
Security aides to VIPs in Nigeria have their jobs cut out for them. it is one task that requires full commitment, unflinching loyalty and 24 hour surveillance. Security men are humans too. They have loved ones too but they abandon these loved ones to serve the country in various capacities and battle fronts. For the discerning, the sacrifices of these people are worth rewarding in numerous ways.
In Kogi state, the First Family has a policy of taking special care of all the security men and women guarding the Government House, from the Police to DSS and even Soldiers. Governor Yahaya Bello on his part takes the welfare of security men in the state very seriously. Both in cash and kind, the Governor and his family make sure all the security men working in the state are not lacking in anything.
Aside providing the logistics needed to do their jobs, Governor Bello sometimes joins the security men on major operations meant to secure the state and save lives. And this goes a long way to boost the morale of the officers and men.

It was in the same vein that the First Lady of the state, Hajiya Rashidat Bello, was seen in a viral video recently giving one million naira each to her security aides in a bid to appreciate them and boost their morale.
Even though some sadists and cynics went to town to spread their trademark fake news and hate messages, everyone could see that the First Lady’s intention was altruistic as she preferred to shower them with love and care rather than allow them to beg.
The Governor, his wives and other members of the First Family, take the welfare and happiness of officers and men working in the state as topmost priority and the result is evident in the fact that Kogi state is ironically the safest state in Nigeria today even though it is bordered by states suffering from the worst forms of insecurity.
It was therefore a proud Governor Bello that we saw the other day decorating his gallant Aide De Camp, ADC, Iwanger Ifeoma Akaya, after she was recently promoted from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
The governor noted that her promotion was as a result of hard work, commitment, dedication and excellence.
The DSP Ifeoma Akaya is the only female Aide De Camp to a serving governor in Nigeria and her rise to stardom is another testament of Governor Bello’s passion for promoting excellent women.
