Massive Decampments To Support APC/Hon. Umar Bago As A Tale Of Victory By Numbers
POLITICS DIGEST – There is no question that Hon. Umar Bago is hanging tough. His aspiration to be elected as governor of Niger State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress –APC- is giving other candidates and political parties a run for their money. This justifies the instance that Hon. Umar Bago is the most calibrated candidate tipped for victory; the spur-of-the-moment and the path to victory and salvation. Hon. Umar Bago is like a fresh morning wind; blazing, steaming sweltering and bringing forth happiness.
It is fair to admit that the governorship primaries of the APC in Niger State saw a profuseness of candidates who individually were worth their mettle. All the aspirants were enthusiastic and hopeful and were admired in their strongholds and support base across Niger State. The campaigns to clinch the candidacy were exhilarating; it was a bazaar of effervescing politicking. Ultimately, the best emerged the winner and the winner is Hon. Umar Bago. No surprise because Hon. Umar Bago started off to a grand start.
Hon. Umar Bago worked over all expectations by defying all impediments and became the candidate of the APC. That did not happen haphazardly. Satisfactorily, the APC Members saw in this marvellous person, one who would clear their fears and anxieties. Hon. Umar Bago did not give the campaigns leading to the primary elections a tap-on-the-wrist approach. He challenged his conveniences and comfort and campaigned day and night meeting all party stakeholders. It was a matter of making the best organisations in terms strategy much as it was an engagement that involved men and women of trust and capability who deployed great winning streaks. There was sufficient sensitisation and mobilisation of Party Members to elect the man who would do the job; one seen and believed as the sanctuary of the led.
Since the very first moment Hon Umar Bago threw his hat in the ring, it was an abundance of acceptance and support even from supposedly unlikely quarters. The youth in particular owned the movement and gave it a new momentum/push; redefined the movement and delivered what, in boxers’ terminology, is called an upper cut jab/victory. The younger generation had/have the conviction that with Hon. Umar Bago holding the reins of leadership in the State, they believed/believe that the difficult times they were/are facing would/will not last forever. On the side of the leaders of tomorrow, it was an identity/generational decision to support Hon. Umar Bago.
The level of massive decamping to support APC and Hon. Umar Bago is without a similarity. It is massive; it is breath taking and it is record level. There is nothing like it in the annals of politics in Niger State. The youth, women, politicians (high and common) etc. are not left out. It is awesome to say the least.

To buttress the point further, the women folk are no doubt going through rough patches; they are economically depraved, socially alienated, physically dominated and politically under represented. It took them little time to know that Hon. Umar Bago was the only candidate who recognise their plight and would be the best governor ever in Niger State if given the mandate. The women thus got their ducks in row; mobilised, reached out, traversed all turf (rough and smooth) and, thankfully, contributed/delivered on their resolve to elect Hon. Umar Bago as APC’s flag bearer. The women know Bago as someone who will be there for them in their darkest hour.
The political class was seen giving all in their political armoury for this movement. They took up the gauntlet and steered the process to victory. They resorted to extensive marshalling, summoning and mustering of APC Members and Delegates and deployed all the formula that saw Hon. Umar Bago emerge as the flag bearer of the APC governorship candidate of Niger State. Bravo to all those who in one way or the other contributed to this victory. No one can thank you enough.
Right from Hon. Bago’s emergence as APC candidate, it has been a whole new chapter of interesting moments; it has been an avalanche of declaration of support for Hon. Bago not even by the fence sitters alone but even by those from the opposition political parties. We have a roll call of big names joining the Hon. Umar Bago movement in their numbers. The masses, students, civil servants, artisans, professionals, formal and informal sector operators and people from all walks of life declare support for Hon. Umar Bago minute by minute; day by day. This is a big win. The big victory is nigh. We appreciate you all.
The huge success of Hon. Umar Bago is creating a scenario where everybody is jumping into the platform and joining the band. A few examples will suffice. Alhaji Umar Nasco is a prominent household name in the fold of the People’s Democratic Party – PDP – in Niger State. He is a versatile political personality with all the political magic vaults at his disposal. Alhaji Nasco was a governorship candidate of PDP with the present PDP governorship candidate, Kantigi as his running mate. Now, using his wisdom; his sense of right and wrong as a guide, he (Umar Nasco) has since declared support for Hon. Bago, the only anchor in the political ocean of Niger State today.
By the same token, Alhaji Sani Duba, a successful and venerable member of the PDP has also joined the winning team; declared support for Hon. Bago. Alhaji Umar Nasco, Sani Duba and their likes who are today with the camp of Hon. Umar Bago are super, energetic, vibrant, robust and focused youths with a commanding influence over their huge followers. They are individually like a one-man-army because of the enormity of the respect, influence and authority they have over their teeming supporters. Reason has prevailed over emotion; patriotism over avarice. This time is Bago time. This is the stark reality. The golden fish has no hiding place they say. The champion will always be even when the competition is officiated by a biased referee.
As at the last stock taking, Hon. Bago’s popularity and approval rating (to win the polls) is as steady as the mountain. No opposition party or candidate can uproot that base. He is streets ahead of his closest opponent. This is it. He has the permutations of emerging victorious panned in his favour. The convergence of endorsements for Hon. Umar Bago is suggestive of life in the animal world. A lone lion cannot scare a herd of buffalos much less killing them no matter how charged the killer instinct in the lion is.
