May Day: Tinubu Advocates ‘Better Deal’ for Nigerian Workers

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, has advocated a ‘better deal’ for civil servants in the country.
On the occasion of this year’s ‘May Day’, Tinubu, a leading presidential aspirant in the 2023 general polls, appealed to the federal government to improve the working condition of workers.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Tunde Rahman, the former Lagos State Governor, decried the appalling condition of government workers.

He said: “May we do what is necessary to pave and ease the way for Nigerian workers.
“That no one who works for a living should live in poverty. That no one shall work in unacceptable and dangerous condition”.
While calling on the government to create an enabling environment for workers, Tinubu, stressed the need for their salaries to also be reviewed upward, in view of the prevailing ‘harsh economic realities.
He condemned the harassment of female workers, and unfair treatment of physically-challenged persons, saying it is time gender discrimination and stigmatization of persons with special needs is eradicated at work places.
