Mentee-mentor Relationship: What You Shouldn’t do
By Lawan Bukar Maigana
If you regard someone as your mentor or your principal in whatever you do, there are things you shouldn’t do with them:
1. Don’t send them memes, no matter how comical or dramatic you think they are. Focus on what will strengthen your relationship and make them have more confidence in you than ever before.
2. Avoid sending unnecessary messages, including but not limited to ‘morning greetings.’ Only important messages should be sent to them.

3. Kindly acknowledge that your mentor or principal is not into advisory services. Therefore, try to avoid seeking advice from them on your personal matters all the time. However, you can open up to them if they insist on it.
4. You should always go straight to the point in your messages because they don’t have enormous time to exchange messages with you due to their tight schedules.
5. You should always seek their approval before doing anything you think is advantageous to them in any way.
6. Finally, never ask for money from them, no matter the situation you find yourself in, else you will ruin your relationship with them.
