More Crisis for PDP in Kano as Abacha heads to Court
POLITICS DIGEST- More crisis seems brewing in Kano Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) release of Sadiq Wali’s name as the governorship candidate of the party on Friday as against Muhammad Abacha whose emergence at the party primary election was supervised by the electoral body.
With this, Muhammad Abacha is heading to court to challenge the INEC list, Kano PDP Chairman, Shehu Wada Sagagi told Solacebase on Friday night.
Sadiq Wali is the son of former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali and Muhammad Abacha is the son of late head of state, General Sani Abacha.
It was reported on June 30th , that Kano Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Risqua Arabi Shehu told reporters at a news conference that the primary election of the PDP that produced Muhammad Abacha was recognized primary of the factional PDP, as the electoral body observed and monitored the exercise.
He said the factional primary of the party was not attended by INEC.

The REC said the commission monitored the party primary that produced Muhammad Abacha because with the letter served on the body the party headquarters, the Shehu Wada Sagagi faction was the side recognized by the law with respect to a court judgement.
Sagagi told Solacebase that Muhammad Abacha confirmed to him that he has set machinery in motion to challenge the list released by INEC that omitted his name.
‘’We have contacted INEC in Kano and we were informed that Muhammad Abacha was the name forwarded to the headquarters of the commission not Saqid Wali, ‘’Sagagi said.
‘’You see the electoral body gave the national Chairmen of each political parties a code to upload the names of candidates of their parties to the commission’s portal who won the primaries.’’
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Friday, displayed the name of Wali as the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Kano State.
It could be recalled that Mr Abacha suffered the same fate in 2011 when he was denied the governorship ticket of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) after he defeated Lawan Jafaru Isa at the primary election of the party.
