New Naira Notes: We are in Democracy not Military Regime – Garo Tells FG
The All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, has faulted the Federal Government deadline for the phasing out of old naira notes.
The former commissioner for local government affairs decried the situation while speaking during the APC’s campaign rally in Dambatta Local Government Area.
Garo said that they will not sit down and fold their arms while Kano residents, who are mostly business men suffer the consequences of the infamous policy imposed by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
“The people of Kano are worried about the issue of Naira redesign that the CBN has introduced inducing hardship in the circumstances of the masses.” Garo said

Garo also reminded the government that Nigeria is operating a democratic system of government where people’s opinions are respected, contrary to what is obtainable in a military regime.
“At this critical moment, your excellency, Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, you have made a plea and called on the CBN and the Federal Government to wade into the matter because we are practicing democracy not military regime.
“Since it is democracy, the people do not deserve any hardship,” he added.
“We have not seen the new Naira notes and the old ones are now being rejected. Kano is a commercial capital, do they want us to crash?
“We were asked to go back to our farms and we have done that. Since we have done that, the government should allow the people to continue using their currency,” he said.
