NGO Distributes Books, Other Academic Materials to 69 Schools in Borno

The Girl Child Concerns, GCC, in collaboration with the Borno State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, AGILE, have distributed safe space materials to 69 schools of Borno Central and North.
This was disclosed by the organization’s Communication Officer, Lawan Bukar Maigana, at Babagana Wakil Integrated Higher Islamic School, on Tuesday in Maiduguri.
According to him, the exercise commenced on Monday (June 5th, 2023) with ten schools within the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, MMC.
Maigana said that the items distributed comprised books, flip charts, pens, mats, attendance books, safe space handbooks, reflective jackets, masking tapes, and permanent markers.

He added that more than 35 principals of the schools in Borno Central and North have collected the materials for their trained staff members while the remaining principals are yet to collect their items.
“We told each Principal that the items were meant for mentees and mentors, and are to be used strictly for the purpose intended.
“And we will take uncollected items to various schools whose principals did not show up at the distribution ground because we don’t want any school to miss out.
“We also reiterated our request for maximum support and cooperation because we can’t achieve the aims of the project without their approval as principals.”
The principals assured the organization and AGILE that the items given to them would be delivered to the trained teachers and community guidance and counselors who would be conducting and having safe space sessions in schools and communities.
