NGO to Elected Candidates: Reflect on Your Campaign Promises

The Centre for Media Policy and Accountability, CMPA, has called on candidates-elect to reflect on their campaign promises and develop favorable policies that yield positive results in the country.
This was contained in a statement released by the organization’s Director of Communications, Outreach, and Advocacy Ibrahim Uba Yusuf on Tuesday, in Abuja.
He said that February 25th presidential and national assembly elections were conducted peacefully despite the security challenges in some parts of the country.

In the statement, Yusuf commended the conduct of supporters of political parties for maintaining calm despite the skepticism, growing tension, disagreement, and dissatisfaction with the results in some states.
He further explained that the media has performed a colorful role in covering the 2023 elections and charged them to set agendas for elected candidates, and keenly track the implementation of their campaign promises after swearing-in.
Though the governorship and state assembly elections scheduled for Saturday, February 11th have been postponed, he however urged citizens across the country to come out in their thousands to elect competent leaders, noting that the voter turnout in the presidential election was very low
