Nigeria Loses First Professor of Geology, Buhari Mourns
POLITICS DIGEST- President Muhammadu Buhari is mourning the passing of Aremo Professor Mosobalaje Oyawoye, CON, Nigeria’s first Professor of Geology, describing him as a prolific scholar and thinker who stood for national aspiration and progress.
“He was steadfastly committed to the progress of the nation,” the President was quoted in a statement by his spokesman, Garba Shehu.

In a message to his family and kinsmen in Offa, Kwara State on Monday, President Buhari expressed sadness that the nation had, of late, “been losing elder statesmen and indeed great men who have accomplished so much and impacted hugely on the lives of many Nigerians. Almighty Allah knows best. May they rest in peace.
“My thoughts are with the family of the deceased, his friends and the countless admirers he left behind in this hour of grief. The nation will miss him immensely. May his soul rest in peace,” the President said.
