NILDS Advocates Zero Tolerance to Cultism at Harmony Day Celebration
Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, the Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), has called on Nigerian youths to reject cultism and other social vices during the Harmony Day Celebration organized by the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) at the University of Abuja.
In a message delivered by his Media Adviser, Mohammad Abdulkadri, Professor Sulaiman expressed concern over the growing trend of political violence and associated social issues that threaten the future of Nigeria’s youth. He congratulated NAKSS on the Harmony Day festivities and emphasized the importance of being role models for the state.

“Some misguided youths are tarnishing the image of tomorrow’s leaders,” Professor Sulaiman remarked. He urged NAKSS members to take the lead in combating drug addiction, cultism, hooliganism, and politically induced lawlessness in Kwara State.
The former Minister of National Planning pledged his ongoing support to NAKSS, assuring them of his commitment as a key stakeholder in both the University of Abuja and the broader Kwara Project.
During the event, the Ilorin Emirate Students Union (IESU) also honored Professor Sulaiman with an honorary award, recognizing his significant contributions to the development of the Emirate and Kwara State. The award was received on his behalf by Abdulkadri, who stated that Professor Sulaiman is celebrated as an exemplary leader and philanthropist.
In his remarks upon accepting the award, Professor Sulaiman praised IESU for their work and urged them to maintain good character and prioritize their studies. He also announced a significant financial contribution to support the IESU Day Celebration.
The event concluded with a call for unity and accountability among students, emphasizing the need to prioritize education and personal development over societal vices.
