Not Yet Time to Reopen Nigerian Schools – FG
POLITICS DIGEST – The Federal Government, on Monday, make it clear that no date has been fixed yet for the re-opening of the nation’s schools.
The Minister of State Education, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, stated this at the joint national briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19.
Nwajiuba urged the students of tertiary institutions who have been protesting the continued closure of their schools to exercise more patient and confirmed the government engagement with stakeholders on the full resumption of the schools.

He expressed optimism that the institutions would soon be reopened but he would not be brandishing dates.
According to him, the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, and himself met some stakeholders in tertiary education earlier in the day on the issue.
He said; “We have reviewed responses from about 78 universities already, most of which are private universities who are insistent that they are ready to go. From the state-owned universities, we have a 50-50 response”
He added that after aggregating opinions, he would return to the PTF to review the situation before going ahead to make a pronouncement on the dates.
On March 19th, 2020 a circular from Federal Ministry of Education has granted an approval for the closure of all schools commencing from Monday 23rd March 2020 to prevent the spread of the Corona virus (COVID19).
