Obasanjo Never Attacked me, Same People Abusing my Father Fabricated it – Fani-Kayode
By Kabir Akintayo
Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode, has debunked the viral quote which people claimed emanated from Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and which described him as a hungry man with no integrity and principles.
The viral quote had quoted Obasanjo of saying something like: “Fani-Kayode is my boy. Just give him food and he will sing and dance for you.”
The former minister in an interview on AIT, monitored by Politics Digest, said people fabricated the quote to provoke him to attack Obasanjo, saying Obasanjo who he served as a presidential aide can never make such a statement.
He said: “President Obasanjo who I worked for, I will tell you he never said anything like that, it was a fabricated quote in social media, it was fabricated in 2013 at a time that people wanted me to start attacking OBJ.”

He continued “I know the boy that did it, he worked for a particular magazine. When we made a complaint, the boy was removed from his job. One year later, the boy unfortunately died in a car accident. I know the boy, he apologized to me at a time.
“People are intellectually lazy in this country, they don’t bother to check anything. I would have definitely responded at that time, if he said so, but it was an attempt to provoke me into attacking Obasanjo which I can never do because he is my father, my boss, some body that I worked for and defended for a number of years.”
The former minister also praised his father, Remi Fani-Kayode, for being a true nationalist, adding that many people calling his father a traitor never agreed with him simply because he stood for truth and justice.
He said: “They spoke about my father, those people that spoke about him can never tie his shoe lace. This is a man that moved a motion for Nigeria’s independence successfully in 1958. This is a man of integrity, a man of strength, courage that built bridges across the country against the tyrant of that time and fought hard alongside people like Chief SL Akintola, to ensure the Yoruba got the best deal at the center.
“I am very proud of my father and for anybody to talk about him, like I said I don’t know who their fathers are. So I tend not to respond to such rubbish.”
