Ogun to Follow Lagos Steps, Sets to Okada Ban
POLITICS DIGEST – Barely a week after Lagos state government has banned the use of motorcycles and tricycles as means of transportation in some parts of the state, Ogun State Government has set to implement the same policy.
Special Adviser on Media to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Hon. Remmy Hazzan, gave the hint on Thursday.
Recall that the Lagos State Government banned the operation of Okada and tricycles (aka Keke NAPEP) from major parts of the state with effect from February 1.
According to Hazzan, Okada as a means of transportation does not feature in the national policy.

The governor’s aide, therefore, warned riders sent packing from Lagos against taking refuge in Ogun.
Hazzan, who launched his book ‘Wisdom Nugget for Daily Living’ in Abeokuta, however, told reporters that the plan to phase out commercial motorcycles would be gradual.
“Ogun State is open, but if it is about Okada, maybe you need to look somewhere else. It then doesn’t mean those who are already in the business in Ogun are cast away yet.
“We have a broad national policy that does not support that (Okada riding), which means we will do something that is a phased gradual removal of this menace from our streets. But it will be gradual, it won’t be radical,”
