Okpokwu LG Boss Urges Edumoga Citizens on CVR

POLITICS DIGEST– The Chairman of Okpokwu Local Area of Benue State, Honourable Amina Audu has urged the citizens of Edumoga Community to imbibe of culture of political education by involving themselves in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) embarked upon by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The call by Hon Audu is coming on the heels of apparent apathy and indifference exhibited by the people of the area towards the exercise noting that the current development is inimical to the political consciousness of the zone.
Hon. Amina Audu stated this when the National President of Saint Mathew Edumoga Catholic Community (SMECC), Mr. Sunday Adokwu paid her a courtesy call in her country home of Ojigo.
She noted that a lot of political education and awareness have been going on in the local government area, adding that it was the intention of her administration to instill proper political culture and maturity devoid of the usual crimes associated with elections.
She however solicited the support of the Edumoga sons and daughters through the instrumentality of the Edumoga Catholic Community to relay these messages to their wards as part of efforts to have an enduring electoral culture in the area.

Earlier, the National President of Saint Mathew Edumoga Catholic Community, Mr. Adokwu told his host that the visit was to solicit her support in terms of the provision of adequate security for the upcoming National Congress of the community holding at Odessassa Ugbokolo, in Okpokwu Local Government Area.
Adokwu noted that his visit has become necessary in view of the current security challenges in the country, adding that the wise counsel and support from the Local government boss would go a long way in making the national congress a success.
Meanwhile, the paramount ruler of Edmoga district, a third class graded chief, His Royal Highness Ochechema Emanuel Ojoh has called on Edumoga sons and daughters both at home and in diaspora to unite and fight against the rising disunity in his domain and work towards progress.
The royal father made the call when Mr Sunday Adokwu, the National President of Saint Mathew Edumoga Catholic Community paid him a courtesy visit in his palace in Efoyo near Ugbokolo in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue state.
He said his ascension to the throne has generated a lot of ripples despite a clear-cut principles and procedures he passed through combined with the official gazzette which gave him power and authority, adding that all hands must be on deck to build a befitting Edumoga land that would be the pride of our people.
“I must confess that my initial elections, procedures and processes that brought me to the throne were done in a transparent manner and the Government of Benue State has recognized me as such”, he said.
Earlier in his address, the National President of SMECC, Mr Adokwu thanked the royal father for welcoming him into his palace and called on the traditional ruler to seat with his clan heads to support him towards the upcoming National Congress from November 25-27, 2021.
He said his visit to the royal father was to receive his blessings and also solicited his support to provide vigilante security during the congress to make it a success.
On the National President’s entourage were the President of Saint Mathew Edumoga Catholic Community, Keffi Branch, Mr Ewache John Ajefu, the General Secretary of the Keffi Branch, Mr Godwin Idoko, Special Adviser on Strategy to the National President, Mr Emmanuel Onah and the Deanary President of Holy Name Parish Ugbokolo, Mr Cletus Idu Idoko amongst others.
