Former Governor of Ekiti state and gubernatorial candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) at the ongoing election, Olusegun Oni, has denied withdrawing from the race.
In a letter that circulated on social media, Oni withdrew from the Ekiti governorship election due to his party’s alleged illegalities and lack of authentic National Working Committee (NWC).

But Oni, in a press statement released on Saturday, by the Director General, Segun Oni Campaign Organisation (SOGO), Dare Bejide, debunked the rumor, describing it as the handwork of the opposition in the state.
The statement read in full:
“Oni is on the ballot. Some desperadoes have issued a forged letter claiming Engineer Olusegun Oni has withdrawn from today’s governorship election in our beloved Ekiti State. This is not true.
“This is the work of sinking politicians who know that nothing can separate Ekiti people from their love of Segun Oni.
Please ignore this hellish rumour and go out to exercise your civic right.”
