The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong confidence of a decisive victory in the 2026 Osun State governorship election following the emergence of Bola Oyebamiji as the party’s consensus candidate.
The National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, spoke in Abuja on Friday during the presentation of the Certificate of Return to Oyebamiji, describing the process that produced him as a clear testament to unity, internal harmony and political maturity within the party.
Yilwatda said the party arrived at a consensus candidate after wide-ranging consultations among nine governorship aspirants, noting that the development reflected a shared vision and mutual trust among party leaders and members.
According to him, all aspirants voluntarily agreed on Oyebamiji to fly the party’s flag in the August 2026 governorship election, a move he said set the APC apart from other political parties.
“This level of understanding and cooperation shows that our candidate has the capacity to unite the party and carry everyone along, not only during the campaign but also in governance,” Yilwatda stated.
He confirmed that the APC had formally issued Oyebamiji with the Certificate of Return, officially recognising him as the party’s sole candidate for the Osun governorship race.

Yilwatda assured the people of Osun State of the party’s readiness to fully engage them ahead of the polls, declaring that the APC was determined to reclaim the state through sustained mobilisation and grassroots engagement.
He added that the party had begun deploying its structures and resources nationwide to support the campaign, expressing confidence that the effort would result in a convincing victory.
Presenting the candidate to journalists, Yilwatda congratulated Oyebamiji on his emergence and invited him to address members of the press.
In his remarks, Oyebamiji expressed appreciation to the party leadership and members for the confidence reposed in him, describing the presentation of the Certificate of Return as a call to greater service.
He said Osun State was ready for a new direction, stressing that effective governance required competence, focus and commitment.
According to him, the state is endowed with abundant human and material resources which, he said, could only be maximised through purposeful leadership.
Oyebamiji pledged to pursue the party’s mandate with dedication, emphasising that he saw no division within the APC.
“We are one team, united and committed to delivering together,” he said, adding that the party would deliver victories at both the state and national levels in the coming election cycle.
