The five governors and other leaders of the party including former governors have been at loggerheads with the Presidential candidate of their party, Alh. Atiku Abubakar, following issues bordering on insincerity, unfulfilled promises and lack of equity and injustice in the leadership of the party.
The team in their last meeting held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, opted out of Atiku’s campaign council and vowed not to play any role in the campaign pending the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
The Enugu meeting came a few days after Wike reportedly met with Atiku, who was said to have promised to back him for Presidency in 2027.
Wike had at the weekend received the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi in Port Harcourt.
It was gathered that Obi held a discussion with the Rivers strongman behind closed-doors at Wike’s country home in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state capital.
Obi also met Governor Makinde over the weekend.
