PDP Kicks as Osun Holds LG Election October 15
POLITICS DIGEST- The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission has said local government elections in the state would hold on October 15.
The OSIEC chairman, Mr Segun Oladitan, disclosed this at a press briefing in Osogbo on Monday.

He said, “The commission is happy to inform you and the general public that the local government elections in Osun State shall be conducted on October 15, 2022. You would kindly recollect that when this commission conducted elections in January 2018, it was based on a parliamentary system.
“I have the pleasure to inform you that the elections we are conducting this 2022 shall be on the presidential system, whereby chairmen of local governments shall be elected directly and the ward councillors shall be elected separately.”
Meanwhile, the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has threatened to ensure that the plan of OSIEC regarding the poll fails.
The party’s caretaker chairman in the state, Dr. Akindele Adekunle, said the PDP would engage all lawful means, including mobilizing the people of state in peaceful protests, against the move.
