PDP can’t be Trusted with Power in 2023, Says PDP Governor
By Ozumi Abdul
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has stated that his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) cannot restructure Nigeria if it cannot restructure itself.
The governor’s statement may not be unconnected with the lingering internal crisis rocking the PDP, involving the trio of the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the national chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, and the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike.
Makinde, who stated this in Aba, Abia State while commissioning the Nwaobasi ring and the Osaa Okea – Umuakatawom roads, said said that he would not accept the chairmanship of the PDP Governors Forum because he is fighting for issues that are fundamental to the peace and unity of Nigeria.
Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, had vacated the seat for him as part of measures to placate the Wike group.
In the same vein, the Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin, had left his seat for former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara.
Wike and Makinde have been in the forefront of the agitation for the resignation of Ayu since the emergence of Atiku as presidential candidate because the duo are both from the North.
