Plane Carrying Malawi’s Vice President Goes Missing
POLITICS DIGEST – An aircraft carrying Malawi’s Vice President, Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima, has gone missing, sparking widespread concern and a massive search operation.
The plane, which was carrying nine other passengers, including security personnel and crew members, lost contact with air traffic control shortly after takeoff from Lilongwe. The last known location of the aircraft was near the town of Mzuzu, where it was headed for an official visit.

The Malawi Defense Force has launched a search and rescue operation, with teams scouring the area for any sign of the missing plane. So far, no wreckage or signs of the aircraft have been found.
State House in Malawi has issued a statement, stating that Malawi’s President, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has been briefed on the situation and has ordered all available resources to be deployed in the search effort.
Dr. Chakwera has since cancelled a scheduled trip to the Bahamas. The State has further indicated that any developments on the situation would be availed as facts unfold.
